Rolling with the unplanned

Hey Family,
What can I say about this week..... It has been really eye opening and over all I would say I pretty good week.

Monday- P-DAY! This weeek we had distroct P-Day. We went to a park for a picnic and to play some games. We had to leave early so that I could go drive with the AP's to see if I could get my car! I passed their test and I'm officially driving in Australia. (Which is on the wrong side of the road??)

Tuesday- Zone meeting which was great then we went to go kill some time before we had transfer interviews. So we went to the Mayland area and tracted there. After interviews we went to see a potential and after we had dinner at the Vincent's house.

Wednesday- The most unplanned for day ever! During our studies we received a phone call from the English testing center. They said the needed us to come down to the center to clear some stuff up. So we called the senior couple over the ESL program but they were five hours away. So I had to drive all the way to the city. Me someone who just barely started to drive in Australia. But we made it there and back just fine and we though we were all done with it but…..

Thursday- Once again another unplanned for day. We received another phone call from the testing center during studies. e had to go all the way back to the city again. I can now say that I hate driving in the City. After we got back we only had time to go to MCM. So just like that two days were gone.

Friday- We had to go to the mission office for Elder ho to be able to help another Elder apply for BYU. After that we had a meeting with all the district leaders in our zone so we just stayed at the mission office. After we had time to go see some people and were able to have some good discussions.

Saturday- We woke up and left to go do some service for the Berryman family. They needed some help running a concession stand a fundraising netball tournament. This gave me a chance to learn all about netball.

Then we went to see one of our investigators Jok. We had a great lesson with him. After we went to a Blitz. We had a great talk with a door to door salesman who was a little confused on why we were knocking on doors. But we enlightened him.

Sunday-What a great day! Church was great even though I had to speak in sacrament. We had a surprise! A man came to church that no one knew. We talked to him and found out a member in another ward gave him a Book of Mormon and invited him to church. Member missionary work works! after church we ate lunch at the Brown's house. After that we visited some people.

Monday- Queens Day! Or in other words it was the Queen's Birthday. We had a district meeting. After we had a picnic for members investigators, and less Actives. This was great it gave a chance for members to start to fellowship the people we are working with. After words we visited some people.

I hope all is well back home. If there is anything I can do for anyone just let me know!
Love,
Elder Leatherow

PS ~ I will be watching conference one week after you all so please don't spoil it for me!  We can talk about it after we have all listened and been spiritually uplifted.

Zone Olympics

Hey Family,

Monday- Zone P-Day! We went to the Dinella chapel and had the first annual Dinella zone Olympics! We ran hurdles ( I may have tripped a few times), had a water balloon fight, and did some other interesting missionary games.

Tuesday- I had a district meeting in the morning. Then we tried to visit some people. We were only able to see a couple though. On the way home a member saw us and stopped and picked us up and took us to get some dinner.

Wednesday- We went to visit a less active. After we went back to our flat for lunch. After lunch we realized the phone fell out of Elder Ho's pocket at the appointment. We hurried back but they people were not home so we tracted around their house. Then we had a Zone meeting so we went to it.

Thursday- I had follow up training all day. After we were done with that we got word that our other meeting was cancelled. A member called for a blessing so we headed over there to give them a blessing.

Friday-  Mission Conference! Elder Pearson of the Quorum of the Seventy came. Him and his wife gave great talks. I even got to shake his hand. After We had a dinner appointment with the Berryman family. They are amazing!

Saturday- We had a district blitz in our area. Then we went to see some people We had stake conference. It was great to go listen to the speakers.

Sunday- Stake Conference in the morning. The bishop in our ward gave us a ride home along the way he invited us to dinner. We had a great time at dinner. His wife actually writes cook books. So lets say dinner was amazing!

You can say my week was meeting after meeting. But over all I had a pretty great week.

Love,
Elder Leatherow

Service, English tests, Surprise visit

Hey Family,

This week has been really eye opening. I can't express everything that has happened or else I would never leave the computer so here is a quick summary of my week.

Monday- Another P-Day. We went back up to Dinella chapel to be with the other Elders.

Tuesday- Elder Ho had his first of many English tests. We had to go to the mission office for this one. We got back to our flat and I was very keen on eating so I ate lunch and headed out to see some people. A less active member gave us dinner to take home which was super nice of her.

Wednesday- My 1 month mark. It had been four weeks since I left the truck at the MTC. We worked in a suburb next to ours. We taught a couple lessons and our last one ran late so we were late to our dinner appointment. We ate dinner at the Evitt's home. Brother Evitt served his mission in Utah.

Thursday- Zone Conference! We had to be there super early for Elder Ho's training. Elder Ho had to leave to take another English test. I stayed at the conference with some other Elders. Zone Conference was all day so we were unable to teach or meet anybody.

Friday- This day started off not so swell but quickly turned around. We got a random phone call from a member in the zone north of us. They knew Elder Ho but were looking for me. They dropped by our flat and gave me some things that my mom had sent or asked them to get me. We had a hard time teaching because nobody was available but we set up appointments.

Saturday- We were up early again and Elder Ho had another English test. I spent the day with the Zone Leaders. We had a zone blitz in the city. It was my first time in the city. After the blitz we helped a senior missionary couple move flats.

Sunday- We rode our bikes to church which took half an hour. That's a lot different than just walking down the street. I was able to give a blessing to an investigator that is having some health problems. We stayed for the next ward to so that Elder Ho could translate for a recent convert. That pretty much shot our day but it was okay because it was service.

Love,
Elder Leatherow

First District Blitz

Dear Family,
here is my week really summarized for you.

Monday- Was P-Day. I spent most of the day with my zone at Dinella Chapel

Tuesday- We had a district meeting and we had to take the bus to go to we missed our first stop but was able to make it back in time to catch our next bus. Then we went with some other Elder's to a chicken place called Nandos and fixed Elder Ho's bike.

Wednesday- We visited a less active who was a little out there but extremely nice.

Thursday- We had a Zone meeting at the Dinella Chapel. Our ride to the chapel had another meeting after so we had to wait for them to finishso we were stuck at the chapel all day so the day was a bust.

Friday- We had to go to the mission office then becasue I was so sick we had to stay inside all day.

Saturday- We went to visit some people but most of them were not home. We then had a district blitz in the Merrabooka area and we had some success talking to some people in that area.

Sunday- We went church then we went back to our flat. Then we rode our bikes back to the church for a member baptism that we had to set up for. After the baptism the members fed us and we rode our bikes back to our flat.

So that was my week in a nut shell:)

Love Elder Leatherow
